As part of our commitment to climate and health multilevel advocacy, we launched the Climate and Health Forum. This annual national forum is designed to bring together stakeholders from across sectors to engage in meaningful dialogue, share best practices, and collaborate on building climate-resilient and equitable health systems. The forum features panel discussions, group discussions, policy roundtables, and participatory workshops that foster shared learning and drive locally grounded solutions.
First Climate and Health Forum: Zanzibar, 2024.
Our first forum was held on 2nd October in Zanzibar on margins of the 2024 Tanzania Health Summit, bringing together about 400 participants, including government officials, youth leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, Development Partners and CSOs. The event featured engaging presentations from key speakers, panel discussions and group discussions. .
A key highlight was the official introduction of the Jamii Shupavu Initiative, aimed at building community resilience to climate-related health challenges with the theme of the forum being “Building Healthy and Resilient Communities in the Face of Climate Change”.. The forum concluded with a cocktail networking session, providing a platform for participants to connect, share ideas, and explore future collaborations on climate and health.
Second Forum : Dar es Salaam, October 2025
The second Climate and Health Forum will take place between 1st – 3rd October 2025 in Dar es Salaam, alongside the Tanzania Health Summit.
This year’s theme: “Women, Youth and Community Health Workers: Driving Equitable and Inclusive Actions for a Sustainable Future.”
This forum will spotlight the leadership of women, young people, and community health workers as catalysts for transformative action in climate and health. We aim to co-create practical solutions that strengthen community resilience and promote inclusive health policies for a sustainable future. We will exclusively feature a conversation on how young people, women and CHWs are instrumental in shaping locally led WASH solutions as a means for preparedness and response to climate sensitive outbreaks.
We invite you to join this vital conversation shaping the future of health and climate resilience in Tanzania and beyond.
